.: welcome to my faculty site for Spring 2016!

Purpose:

Here, you can find information and syllabi for all the courses I teach at PVCC in Phoenix, Arizona. I've also included some communication and leadership articles I've written for publication. I am a faculty member in the Business and Information Technology Division at PVCC and also serve as the Faculty Online Learning Coordinator.

Jim Patterson, Paradise Valley Community College Professor of Business/I.T., welcomes you to class! Enjoy the semester

.: what jim does at pvcc...

I am PVCC's Online Learning Coordinator. I am proficient with products like Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Lightroom for editing photos and graphics, and MS Office. I am also an "all Mac guy." I own both a 27 inch iMac and a sweet little Macbook Pro. If you really must use Microsoft compatible software, you can still do it on a Mac. On the business side, I am interested in customer service, leadership, and international business. And of course, instructional technology!

My fun passions, other than writing, digital photography, computers, and teaching at PVCC, include travel (especially international), University of Arizona sports (we were the 1997 national basketball champs!), the desert outdoors, and our Mischa, a beautiful Russian Blue rescued from a Prescott area woodpile in November of 2007.  The newest resident is Panther, a Bombay cat.  Queen of the casa!

I was a beta tester for Camtasia for Mac and was able to put out a narrated video on social media tools on the web. That video is located here.

Have an iPad? Thinking of getting one? I have one. Here are my experiences. "The iPad in Education."  UPDATE:  I sold my iPad and use an iPhone 6-plus!

Here is a PowerPoint slideshow based on a presentation I did called "Using Photography in the Classroom." There are good links in there!
