Purpose:
Here, you can find information and syllabi for all the courses I teach at PVCC in Phoenix, Arizona. I've also included some communication and leadership articles I've written for publication. I am a faculty member in the Business and Information Technology Division at PVCC and also serve as the Faculty Online Learning Coordinator.

I am PVCC's Online Learning Coordinator. I am proficient with products like Dreamweaver, Photoshop Elements for editing photos and graphics, Adobe Lightroom, and Office. My new interest, and I am late in coming around to this, is Apple computers. I own both a 24 inch iMac and a sweet little Macbook. If you really must use Microsoft compatible software, you can still do it on a Mac. On the business side, I am interested in customer service, leadership, and international business.
My fun passions, other than writing, digital photography, computers, and teaching at PVCC, include travel (especially international), University of Arizona sports (we were the 1997 national basketball champs!), the desert outdoors, and our Mischa, a beautiful Russian Blue rescued from a Prescott area woodpile in November of 2007.

Who is Jim?
I have a broad academic background. I have degrees and interests in journalism, international relations, instructional technology, business, and computer information systems. I am also a published author with three books. I am always on the lookout for new book ideas. My writing interests are centered on things related to management, communication, and instructional technology. I’ve made many national conference presentations and conducted training for both corporate and military audiences. Prior to coming to Paradise Valley C.C., I was an education specialist with the U.S. Army’s Military Intelligence School at Fort Huachuca, AZ. In my younger days, I was a radio reporter and news director for stations in both Michigan and Arizona. Before teaching at PVCC, I taught at the University of Phoenix, Jackson (MI) Community College (main campus and prison branch... my captive audience!), Pima C.C., and the University of Arizona. I have a B.A. from the University of Arizona, a M.A. from Eastern Michigan University, a Certificate in Distance Education from Thomas Edison State College, an Ed.S. in instructional technology from Valdosta State University, and an M.B.A. from Morehead State University. I am currently in the Ed.D. in educational leadership program at Northern Arizona University. I have set up a special page for the future trip I will lead to South Korea. The trip will be in conjunction with IBS 154 (Pacific Rim Countries: International Business Environment, 2 semester hours credit).
