The purpose of this course is to teach you the basic skills for writing college essays and research papers.
English 101 focuses on the different writing modes and how to blend them to create convincing and interesting essays and research papers.
This prepares you for English 102 which requires that you can both use and blend these modes effectively for longer written works.
Good writing skills are a necessary part of all your future work. By learning and honing these skills now, it will enable you, as a student, to succeed more readily and easily throughout your college career.
