Faculty Senate Goals 2002/2003

The following three goals were considered to be of highest priority for the Senate to address:

  1. Academic Restructuring:
This is one of the most important issues facing our faculty. We will complete our review and in September identify 3-5 prototype academic structures. The facultyy will be given the opportunity to review these prototypes and, in the Spring of 2003, vote on which prototype will be submitted to the Administration

  2. Faculty Reassigned Time/Overload Issues:
This issue has stirred great emotion and opinion among our faculty. We have petitioned the Dean of Learning to table any action on this issue until the Fall of 2002. The Senate needs to become involved in a reasonable resolution to this matter. It is imperative that all reassignments be reviewed and evaluated. Those that are consistent with the goals and mission of this campus should be supported by the Administration.

  3. Faculty Committees:
A review needs to be conducted of faculty committees. Some committees have not met for over a year, while otherscould be consolidated or eliminated. The number of committee assignments per faculty member needs to be reviewed. Also, many faculty have off-campus committee assignments that need to count as part of faculty campus committee assignments.

Faculty Senate Goals 2000/2001

Based on Senator interviews of all Association members, the 2000/2001 Senate adopted as priority areas to address in the coming year the following three concerns: The Senate approved a motion to form focus groups to strategize how to address those three issues.
