NOMINATION/ ELECTION PROCEDURES FOR
AT-LARGE SENATORS AND PRESIDENT-ELECT
Spring 1999
The Nomination/Election Committee, upon appointment by the Senate Officers, will use this procedure guide as approved by the PVCC Senate at the April Senate meeting.
A. ELECTION OF AT-LARGE SENATORS
1. After ratification of this document, the nomination/ election committee will determine the number of At-Large Senate seats to be filled.
2. On Friday, April 2, 1999, the Chairperson of the Nomination/ Election Committee will call for self-nominations of candidates for vacant At-Large Senator seats, via A-1 or paper mail, to all eligible PVCC Faculty Association members as defined by the PVCC Senate Constitution, Article II, Section 1. This call will explain self-nominee eligibility as defined by the PVCC Senate Constitution, Article II, Section 2 and Article V, Section 2.
3. Self-nomination for At-Large Senators will be accepted, via A-1, by the Chairperson of the Nomination/ Election Committee no later than 12:00 noon, Friday, April 9, 1999. Two days (Wednesday, April 7) before the close of nominations, the Nomination/ Election Committee Chairperson will notify faculty of who has self-nominated.
4. The Nomination/ Election Committee Chairperson or designee will print the ballot, establish a voter eligibility signature sheet, arrange for the ballot box to be monitored, send a notice, via A-1, to all eligible voters as defined by the PVCC Senate Constitution, Article II, Section 1, identifying the location and time of balloting.
5. Balloting is to begin Monday, April 12, 1999, at 8:00 A.M. and close Tuesday, April 13, at 12:00 noon.
6. Ballot counting will begin immediately after the balloting closes (or as soon as is reasonably possible) by the Nomination/ Election Committee members. The counting of ballots will be an open process; any Faculty Association member may attend.
7. Immediately upon the completion of the ballot counting, notice of the newly elected At-Large Senate members will be sent, via A-1, to all PVCC Faculty Association members by the Chairperson of the Nomination/ Election Committee.
8. If the number of self-nominees is equal to or less than the number of vacancies, no election need take place. The nominees will become the Senators.
B. ELECTION OF THE PRESIDENT-ELECT
1. On Wednesday, April 14, 1999, the Chairperson of the Nomination/ Election Committee will call for self-nominations for the office of President-Elect, via A-1 or paper mail, to all eligible PVCC Faculty Association Senate members as defined by the PVCC Senate Constitution, Article IX, Section 2.
2. Self-nomination for President-Elect will be accepted, via A-1, by the Chairperson of the Nomination/ Election Committee no later than 12:00 noon Tuesday, April 20, 1999.
3. The Nomination/Election Committee Chairperson or designee will print the ballot, establish a voter eligibility signature sheet, arrange for the ballot box to be monitored, send a notice, via A-1, to all eligible voters as defined by the PVCC Senate Constitution, Article II, Section 1, identifying the location and time of balloting.
4. Balloting is to begin Thursday, April 22, 1999, at 8:00 A.M. and close Friday, April 23, 1999, at 12:00 noon.
5. Ballot counting will begin immediately after the balloting closes (or as soon as is reasonably possible) by the Nomination/ Election Committee members. The counting of ballots will be an open process; any Faculty Association member may attend.
6. Immediately upon the completion of the ballot counting, notice of the newly elected President-Elect will be sent, via A-1, to all PVCC Faculty Association members by the Chairperson of the Nomination/ Election Committee.
7. If only one person self-nominates, no election need take place. The nominee will become the President-Elect.
