Biographical Information |
|
Dr. Bains has taught General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry for over 16
years. His experience includes teaching at Arkansas State
University-Beebe, University of Tennessee, and Southern Illinois
University before joining PVCC. He has been teaching at PVCC for the last
5 years.
|
|
His research background is in mechanistic and synthetic organic chemistry,
which includes synthesis of new fluorinating reagents and their reactions
with carbonyl electrophiles, stereochemistry of 4+2 cycloaddition
reactions and heterogeneous catalysis. Dr. Bains has published his
research articles in Journal of Organic Chemistry, Tetrahedron
Letters, Tetrahedron: Asymmetry, and Tetrahedron. He has also
presented his research papers at various American Chemical Society
meetings and was honored by AATYC with an outstanding faculty award.
