Dr. Adair is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and her interest in science began with a research internship program at the University of New Mexico, working for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). During her work at LANL, she finished her bachelors and completed her masters in molecular genetics on Yersinia pestis (Bubonic plague) for internationally known anthrax researcher, Dr. Paul Keim at NAU. Her work at LANL and NAU focused on novel identification of worldwide strains of both anthrax and plague. |

After receiving her masters degree, Dr. Adair moved to Phoenix, Arizona
and began research at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Adair pursued her interest of viruses studying HIV and Hepatitis C. Her doctoral research studied the impact of viral replication in autopsy brain tissue and genetic expression due to a disease response in Hepatitis C (HCV). Using molecular genetics analysis her research suggested for the first time that there may be a biological basis for the neuropsychiatric symptoms and cognitive impairment associated with HCV infection.
She completed her Ph.D. in the field of medical
microbiology working with a joint collaboration between Mayo Clinic and
the Medical University of Warsaw in Warsaw, Poland. |

Today Dr. Adair greatly enjoys teaching students in Microbiology and
Biotechnology at PVCC.
|
|
Dr. Adair enjoys camping, hiking, and traveling. And, of course, she has
a great love for New Mexican food!
