[Ring Nebula]Remote Astronomy Project

The image of the Ring Nebula (M57) shown above was obtained with the 0.6 m (24-inch) telescope at Mt. Wilson Observatory in California in cooperation with the Telescopes in Education (TIE) program. The telescope was remotely controlled live via modem from the Astronomy Lab at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix using TheSky Astronomy Software , and the image was exposed, downloaded, and processed using SkyPro image processing software. PVCC has secured Mt. Wilson telescope time for eight remote observing sessions during the Spring 2000 semester.  Astronomy lab students have priority for telescope observing time, but other students are welcome to participate on a space available basis.  Please contact the instructor as shown below.
