Deviant Behavior and the Criminal Mind -
(6 credits)
In this Learning Community, we will explore
deviance, social roles, and psychological disorders in the
criminal mind as we connect relationships between
abnormal behavior and crime trends. We will study
several different theories, causes, and treatments of
abnormal behavior within the correctional and
psychological communities. This 6 credit learning
environment will include discussions, small group
projects, instructional videos, guest speakers, and
selected observational sites.
*Designed for students who wish to explore an education
or career in one of the many Behavioral Health fields.
*Administration of Justice Studies-AJS225 Criminology,
will fulfill a required course for the AJS 2 year degree.
*Total of 6 credits-students must co-enroll in the following:

Transcending Cultural Barriers
Students will be actively involved in cross-cultural learning
experiences that will help them prepare children to live in
a diverse, culturally rich global society. Children's literature
will provide the vehicle for knowing, understanding, and
valuing cultural diversity.
Must co-enroll in EDU291-4055 or ENH291-1421 and EDU230-4054 for a total of six credit hours.

Global Perspectives in the Information Age” (6 credits)
Do you want to explore, understand and become actively involved in
your world?
Does research writing frustrate you?
Does negotiating the massive amounts of information available
confuse you?
This Learning Community will help you develop the knowledge and
skills to find the right information and incorporate it seamlessly into
quality writing for college.
In this dynamic 6-credit learning environment, we will explore global issues through research in print and on-line resources, and learn how to effectively evaluate and communicate our informed perspective to engage and persuade audiences in written essays, a wiki and a final project.
Designed for students who wish to gain transferable research and writing skills that will serve them in all their college work and beyond.
