Nature of Poetry ENG205

A foundational course which focuses on the reciprocal nature of reading and writing poetry as well as acquiring a "critical vocabulary" for the appreciation of poetry. Examines the technical, cultural and aesthetic sources of established poets as well as work produced by student writers. Explores the creative writing process as well as poetic themes, styles and perspectives that contribute to the writing of original student poetry. Prerequisites: None.
 
Creative Writing ENG 210

Skills and techniques used in the production of marketable materials for contemporary publications that buy prose fiction, poetry, and expository articles. May be repeated for a total of six (6) credit hours with departmental approval. Prerequisites: ENG102 with a grade of "C", or better, or permission of department.
