Creative Writing

The Creative Writing Department at PVCC

Provides courses, workshops and special events in various creative writing genres, such as poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction. The department encourages students and writers of all levels of experience to focus on their own creative process as well as their finished creative writing product.

The department also is committed to providing a “writer’s community”–that is, opportunities for students to celebrate individual artistic endeavors as well as promoting and recognizing their need to participate in diverse cultural activities.

The Creative Writing Department is committed to creating lifelong learning opportunities by fostering a learning environment whereby creative writing efforts are valued, encouraged, and a vital and on-going part of our culture. The department recognizes that great writers–and great audiences for creative writing-- are comprised educated, productive world citizens.
