Questions To Ask Yourself
When Designing Your Web Page
Getting Started:
- Who is my intended audience?
- Why will the audience be visiting
my web page?
- Is the content of this page relevant
to my audience? How?
- You may want to start with an
outline or create a storyboard of what information should be included.
Checking the details:
- Is my page title self explanatory?
- Is the information contained on
this page current? What information will need to be updated and
am I willing to update this page every semester if needed?
- Is the information on this page
organized in a logical or intuitive manner?
- Have I used the best methods of
presentation for this page (tables, forms, text, graphics)?
- Have I been consistent with other
web pages at my site? (Does it look similar enough to the other
pages that one can tell it is part of this site (footer, header,
etc.)? Do the navigational controls work alike?)
- Are the links on this page appropriately
placed and sized? ( "Click here" avoided, and using
a sentence as the anchor avoided.)
- Are all the graphics I have included
on this page suitable, serve a purpose, and the appropriate size?
- Have I followed any campus Web Page
Guidelines?
(i.e., PVCC guidelines are listed at http://www.pvc.maricopa.edu/webdev/guide.html)
- Did I use alt tags for all graphics in the site?
- How is the look, the feel, and the flow as whole?
